Turnagain Winter

Turnagain Arm is one of the most scenic areas of southcentral Alaska. No matter what time of the year, incredible views are possible. This panoramic
photograph looks toward the head of Turnagain Arm from near Bird Point. Normally, the Arm is choked with ice floes at this time of year, however the
temperatures in the Fall of 2002 were well above normal. As a result, this winter view of snow-covered mountains and an ice-free Turnagain Arm  is
rarely seen. The light of a low winter sun provides a dramatically-lit scene.
